Since 1958, we’ve offered our custom plastic injection molding expertise to help take your product from concept to reality. In addition, we produce a proprietary plastic fittings line with numerous applications across the agricultural and industrial sectors. Family owned for over half a century.
Our family legacy has set the tone for our uncompromising standards. We grow upon the firm foundation of respect, integrity, and honesty set by our founders and continued by second generation family ownership.
1955
Ken Olsen rents out a 10x10 basement room for his handmade lathe at the corner of Lake and Hennepin.
1958
Olsen’s first job, making hydraulic landing gear cylinders for a local airliner, gave him the runway to go into the toolmaking business full time.
1964
Olsen Tool and Plastics moves to a location in Richfield, MN to make room for growing operations and new machinery.
1965
Bob Strom joins Olsen Tool and Plastics as a toolmaker.
1968
Strom buys into the company and becomes a partner with Olsen.
1988
Olsen retires and hands the reins over to Strom.
1989
OTP acquired its nylon and polypropylene fittings line.
1991
OTP expanded operations and moved to a custom-built facility in Chaska, MN.
2005
Company celebrated 50 years as the next generation of leadership began to invest in OTP.
2007
Katherine Lambert joins Olsen Tool and Plastics.
2015
OTP’s Quality Management System became ISO 13485:2016 certified.
2018
Lambert transitions to Vice President.
2023
After 58 years, Strom retired and Lambert assumed the helm as President.
